The other part of her that I could see was her hands. Her gloves sat on the table next to her mug. She didn’t pay attention to the gloves–but I did.She said, “Go away. I’m not whoever you think I am. And I’m not looking for conversation or company. Find another place to sit.” She didn’t have any weapons that I could see. I knew she had them, but they weren’t where I could see them.In a very steady low voice, a voice as hard to hear as the two of us were to see, I said, “I’ll leave when I’m ready. When you are ready, you can come with me.”She snapped her head up and stared at my face. If you are familiar with Marilyn Foxworthy's work you have a pretty good idea what to expect: well rounded characters, a touch of philosophy, a little action and violence, and a lot of eroticism.I won't go into the plot, the synopsis is good enough and I want anyone who reads this to be able to follow along with the story at their own pace. I will say that I enjoy Marilyn's straight up fantasy books more than any of the other books she writes, she has a good sense for world building and character interaction necessary for fantasy tales.Hopefully we'll be able to follow this story some more soon. Chain of logic: Elfborn Monk (a Kindle Vella) seems to be the same world as The Guardian Maidens of Sturgil's Mark. There are bad-guy characters with the same clan name in Elfborn Monk as in Cognito Sum. Isn't Cognito Sum in the same world as Guardian Maidens? It seems likely and if so the world expands with both of these new story lines. Cultures meet and the main character enjoys getting to know and help his new ladies. Very good adventure entertainment following their action. Added to my reread list.
